Next Step Kinesiology complies with the Federal Government’s Privacy Act 1988 and the Health Records Act 2001. In addition, Next Step Kinesiology is bound by the Australian Institute of Kinesiologists (AIK) Code Of Conduct and Ethics and the International College of Professional Kinesiology Practice (ICPKP) Code of Ethics; specifically in relation to client confidentiality. This means that any information received from you on my website, history form or taken during a balance session is completely confidential. Your records are stored and protected in adherence with these acts. Furthermore, I do not discuss with anyone any information related to your well being history or balance.

1. Client Privacy
->At Next Step Kinesiology all clients have a right to privacy and confidentiality.

2.
Next Step Kinesiology is required by law to keep information about the client confidential and any written information pertaining to the client needs to be securely located. Next Step Kinesiology is only able to share information about the client if they have a request in writing from the client or are subpoenaed by law.

3. Parents/Guardians and Children (0-17 yrs)
->If the parent/guardian is not present in the room during the balance, the child has the right not to share (and elect the Kinesiology not to share) the information discussed during the balance with the parent. However, if the child gives permission, the Kinesiologist is able to share what was discussed during the balance with the parent. The exception, which allows use and disclosure without the child’s permission, is where disclosing the information would lessen a serious and imminent threat to the child’s life or health.

4. Making clients aware of their privacy rights in regards to children
->Next Step Kinesiology endeavours to make the parent/guardian and children (if at an age where they will understand) aware of this privacy rule in order to have good communication and understanding of what is going on. For example, a teenager may prefer to speak to the Kinesiologist privately about their issues, but not share them with parents whereas as a smaller child may be happy for the Kinesiologist to share their information gathered during the session.
